502 XXXIII. Pyridingruppe. = C5H 1 oN(C 3 H 7 ), ist das giftige Princip des Schierlings (Conium maculatum). Farblose, betäubend riechende Flüssigkeit, S.-P. 168°, in Wasser ein wenig löslich. Rechtsdrehend. Jodwasserstoff reducirt in starker Hitze zu Normal-Octan, Salpetersäure oxydirt zu Buttersäure, Kaliumpermanganat zu Picolinsäure (daher a-Stellung). Synthetisch ist es von Ladenburg aus «-Allylpyridin (S. 499) durch Reduction mit Natrium in alkoholischer Lösung erhalten worden (B. 19, 2578): C 5 H 4 N(C 3 H 6 ) -f 8H = C 5 H 10 N(C 3 H 7 ). Hierbei entsteht zunächst optisch-inactives «-Normalpropylpiperi din, welches sich durch Krystallisation des weinsauren Salzes in Coniin (Rechtsconiin) und ein diesem höchst ähnliches Linksconiin spaltet. Die Beziehung dieser beiden Basen zu einander und zur inactiven Modification ist dieselbe wie zwischen d- und 1-Weinsäure und Trauben säure (s. B. 19, 2578; 27, 3062). Bei anderen «- Alkylpiperidinen be stehen analoge Verhältnisse (A. 247, 64, 80 ff.). Coniin verhält sich bei durchgreifender Behandlung mit Jodmethyl ähnlich wie Piperidin (s. o.); Endproduct ist Conylen, C 8 H 14 (S. 65). Nicotin, C 10 H 14 ]Sr 2 , = C 10 H s (H ti )N 2 , ist der giftige Be- standtheil des Tabaks und der Tabakspflanze. Oelige, in Wasser, Alkohol und Aetber leicbt lösliche, starke, zweiwerthige Base von betäubendem Geruch, in Wasserstoffgas unzersetzt destillirbar, sieb an der Luft schnell bräunend. S.-P. etwa 250°. Giebt durch Permanganat Nicotinsäure, ist daher ein ß-Pyridin- derivat. Früher als Hexahydrodipyridyl betrachtet, scheint es nach Pinner (B. 26, 292; 27, 1053) ein Pyridyl-n-Methylpyrrolidin, C 5 H 4 N.C 4 H 7 (NCH 3 ), zu sein, wobei das Methylpyrrolidin mit dem /S-Kohlenstoff des Pyridins verknüpft ist. Ueber Tropin und Ecgonin, zwei complicirtere Pyridinabkömm- linge s. Cocaalkaloide. Das Triacetonamin (S. 151) ist ein ß-tetramethylirtes -y-Keto- piperidin.
