Der Brennmaterialverbrauch iſt ſehr verſchieden und be- 
läuft: fich bei Pafeten auf 450 bis. 550 Pfund und bei 
Platinen auf 350: bis 450 Pfund auf 1000 Pfund fers

nußung- des Schneideiſens iſt die: Nagelfabrication,

Eifen, welches: in ebene, ſehr breite, verhältnißmäs 
Big lange und ſchwache Tafeln verwandelt worden ift, 
nennt.man: Blech und zwar, zum Unterſchiede von dem

hes, ſowohl die der Oberfläche, als wie die der Stärke, 
find fo verſchiedenartig, daß ſih gar nichts allgemein 
Poſitives darüber ſagen läßt. Früher wurde das Blech 
geſchmiedet, jezt: aber wird: es, mit ſehr. wenigen Aus- 
nahmen, gewalzt. Das Meaterialeifen, aus welchem es 
dargeſtellt wird, kann dagegen ebenſogut unter dem Hams 
mer, als zwiſchen den Walzen angefertigt werden; ja die 
Vorbereitung des Eiſens unter dem Hammer iſt faſt noths 
wendige Bedingung, wenn das Blech gut ſein ſoll. 
Die hauptſächlichſten Apparate zur Blechfabrication 
find: Hämmer und: Grobeifenwalzwerfe zur Anfertigung 
des Materialeifens, Schweiß: und Glühöfen, fowie Blech» 
walzwerfe zur eigentlichen: Blechfabrication. 
Das Materialeifen wird mit dem Hammer, mit 
dem Walzwerke oder mit beiden Apparaten im Vereine 
dargeſtellt und die hierbei zu: treffende Wahl hängt von 
den Umſtänden ab. — Entweder wird das Materialeiſen 
geſchweißt oder wenn es mit Holzkohlen gefriſcbt iſt, fo 
fann man dabei auf verſchiedenartige Weiſe verfahren : 
1) Man zängt ‚die Luppen auf die gewöhnliche Weiſe 
und ſchmiedet ſie dann zu ſtarken, flachen Stäben aus. 
Dieſelben kommen zum Schweißofen, dann zum Grob: 
eifenwalzwerk, um ſie der Länge nah auszuſtre>en, wo- 
rauf ſie in Stüde zerſchnitten werden und unter der Ber
