The following resolutions were presented during the Symposium to the
Resolutions Committee Chairman, and approved by attendees:
1. Commission VII of the International Society of Photogrammetry consider
that a high priority project to which the new technology of remote sensing
can make a significant contribution is that of an internationally governed
try

lizations,
world agricultural crop information system. It is resolved that the
Society send a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations urg
ing that a special study be undertaken as to how such a system could be
set up.

2. The Editors and Editorial Boards of Photogrammetria and National Journals
should be asked to consider the possibility of producing issues of the
Journal devoted to particular needs or areas; these could be either pro
blem oriented (for example: remote sensing applications in hydrology) or
system oriented (for example: thermal infrared sensing systems and their
applications).

3. Recognizing that satellite information is now available for the whole
world and considering the lack of other remote sensing data, Commission
VII of the I.S.P. recommend that governments review their present restric
tions on the distribution of remote sensing data.
4. Recognizing the demonstrated applications of remote sensing to meet several
operational requirements, it is recommended that Commission VII of the
I.S.P. hold a future symposium emphasizing the use of remote sensing in
operational application such as environmental monitoring, planning, decision
making, natural resource inventory, etc.

5. That Commission VII of I.S.P. recommend that we place more emphasis on the
use of sequential satellite imagery for the study of the dynamics of
natural renewable resources and the application of this study to various
problems such as the situation of nomadic peoples.
