26 Summary The International Cartographic Association (ICA) and the Inter national Society for Photogrammetry (ISP) intend to cooperate more closely in future. For this reason the author of this paper was asked by the present President of the ICA, Prof. Dr. Orme- ling, Netherlands, to point out the interrelations existing between cartography and photogrammetry and to indicate of what importance these two scientific disciplines are for one another. The author elucidates these interrelations by answers to the following three questions: (1) Cartography and photogrammetry, do they have an identical or a different subject of research ? Résumé L 1 Association cartographique internationale (A.C.I.) et la Société internationale de photogrammêtrie (S.I.P.) ont l'inten tion de coopérer désormais d'une manière plus étroite. A cette fin, l'auteur de cet article a été prié par le Président actuel de l'A.C.I., le professeur Dr. Ormeling / Pays-Bas, de démontrer les relations mutuelles existant entre la cartographie et la photogrammêtrie et d'indiquer l'importance qu'acquièrent ces deux disciplines scientifiques chacune pour l'autre. L'auteur souligne ces relations mutuelles par ses réponses aux trois questions suivantes: (1) La cartographie et la photogrammêtrie ont-elles un objet de recherche identique ou bien différent ? (2) Dans quels domaines de recherche existent des relations mutuelles entre la photogrammêtrie et la cartographie ? (3) Quelle est l'importance que possède la mise au point tech nique des instruments pour la cartographie et la photogrammê trie ? Sous ce rapport, il donne également une revue sur le flux d'informations et de données de la photogrammêtrie à la cartographie (de l'information originale jusqu'à l'information transmise) et sur l'état d'évolution actuel de la technique des instruments en photogrammêtrie et en cartographie. De plus, il souligne l'importance de la collaboration de la photogrammê trie et la cartographie avec l'industrie construisant les in struments, ainsi que l'effet pour l'économie nationale en ré sultant. Un exemple expressif sert comme preuve.
