nächst nicht scharf genug unterschieden. Gegenwärtig unterscheidet
Pearson: „the mean square contingency for the whole population“
(mein gp), „the approximate value of the mean square contingency“
— vgl. K. Pearson, On the probable error of a
coefficient of mean square contingency (Biometrika, vol. X) und K. Pear
son and A. W. Young, On the probable error of a coefficient of con
„Peccavimus!“,
p. 259—260; Biometrika, vol. XII). Der mittlere Fehler von cp' ist in
erster Annäherung von J. Blake man and K. Pearson, On the prob
able error of mean square contingency (Biometrika, vol. V) in einer von
der meinigen abweichenden Weise abgeleitet worden.
§ 4, 8. A. Vgl. A. Tschuprow, Über die math. Erwartung des
Quotienten, S. 267—269.
lationskoeffizienten in ähnlicher Weise von H. E. Soper, On the prob
able error of a correlation coefficient to a second approximation (Bio
metrika, vol. IX) abgeleitet worden. R. A. Fisher, angeregt durch die
Abhandlung von Student, Probable error of a correlation coefficient
abgeleitet; R. A. Fisher, Frequency distribution of the values of the
correlation coefficient in samples from indefinitely large population
(Biometrika, vol. X); vgl. Soper, Young, Cave, Lee and Pearson,
On the distribution of the correlation coefficient in small samples (Bio
metrika, vol. XI); R. A. Fisher, On the probable error of a coefficient
of correlation deduced from a small sample (Metron, vol. I; 1921).
lationskoeffizienten geht auf W. F. Sheppard, On the application of
the theory of error to cases of normal distribution and normal correla
tion, p. 128 (Phil. Trans., A, vol.
malen Korrelation stammt von K. Pearson and L. N. G. Filon, On
the probable errors of frequency constants and on the influence of
random selection on variation and correlation, p. 245 (Phil. Trans., A,
vol. 191; 1898). In älteren Schriften findet man gelegentlich den Wert
des mittleren Fehlers des empirischen Korrelationskoeffizienten mit
1 -r;
11 i
angegeben. Diese Formel geht auf K. Pearson, Regression,
0 0
Heredity, and Panmixia, p. 266 (Phil. Trans., A, vol.
