tive, Central, Technical, Award, and Liaison categories and are headed by experienced
members carefully selected and appointed by the President of the Society. Detailed
functional statements of responsibility are given to each Committee Chairman by the
President, and the Chairman is invited to comment and improve upon the statement
of mission and plan of attack for his Committee and pass it on to his successor.
Fourteen local sections have been organized to monitor Society activities on a
local or geographic basis. These Sections hold technical and business meetings, con
tact members and solicit new members, and, on occasion, sponsor a large semiannual
meeting of the National Society. Their existence and activities promise the individual
member more effective participation in the work of the Society.
In these and in many other ways, a National Society can be of service to its
discipline and to its membership. In thirty years of life, the American Society of
Photogrammetry has contributed immensely to the growth of the science of photo-
grammetry. Many areas exist where the work of the Society can be improved, ex
tended and enhanced; the present leadership dedicates itself to effecting these im
provements in the shortest possible time.
