FUTURE FORK
This paper has confined its attention to the reporting of typical results
for present devices. Work is in progress, however, to find out the ways in
which the situation may be improved, particularly in the register glass type of
camera. There are two general lines of attack. The first is to investigate
the possibilities of applying pressures of the present order (about ^ to 2
lb/sq.in.) over the full area of the film in such a way as to prevent the
formation of air pockets. The second is to explore the possibility of applying
high local pressures, e.g. by means of a roller, in time sequence across the
film immediately prior to exposure. There are encouraging indications from
both these approaches.
