individual Commissions. This could not be
strictly realized because of the many publica
tions received late. On the other hand, some
papers announced for the Congress were still
undelivered at the editorial closing time for
the Archives. As the registration numbers in
tended for them were not mentioned in the
table of contents, gaps exist in the numbering
of the Presented Papers. The Invited Papers
are ordered according to Commission; their
registration numbers only served for the check
of the list of authors at the time of sorting. We
hope, however, that the consignees will tolerate
such short-comings and take into account our
desire to deliver as quickly as possible.
In the name of the Congress- and Archives
Commission I wish to thank sincerely all the
collaborators who helped me in making order
from an immense mountain of paper of 26 tons
and getting ready for despatch, within
6 months, 7000 Parts of the Archives for which
200 000 publications had to be sorted.
