“Gentlemen:
The Swedish Society of Photogrammetry strongly desires to have the pri
vilege of holding the 1956 VIII Congress of the International Society of Photo
grammetry in Sweden. The Swedish members are, however, very conscious of
the great responsibility which must be assumed by the host country for such
an event. Among other conditions there must be certain economic guarantees
from the government of that country. Assuming that this and other conditions
can be filled, the Swedish Society of Photogrammetry would heartily welcome
the opportunity to organize and stage the next Congress in Sweden.
With the foregoing reservation, we, the undersigned, have the honor of
inviting you to hold the VUIth Congress of Photogrammetry in Sweden. It is
implicitly understood that details of the Congress and final acceptance of our
invitation are subject to the approval of this Congress and the Swedish Govern-
ment.

President Reading: Thank you very much, Professor Hallert. The dele
gate meeting accepted with pleasure the invitation of Sweden. The Belgian
delegation has advised us that they have received permission to invite the next
Congress to Brussels, and they are quite happy to be considered at this time a
reserve in case untoward circumstances should prevent the holding of the Con
gress in Stockholm.
General Brown, the Chief of the British delegation, also said that his
country, his society would also be very happy to be considered as a reserve and
he was quite certain that if they had six months’ notice, they would be very
glad to take over in case of any untoward events between now and 1956.
The International statutes provide that the host national society nominate
the new president.
I shall give the floor to Professor Hallert.
Mr. Hallert: I have the honor of presenting this to the International
Society of Photogrammetry, Washington, D.C.
