Italy 
From 1948 to 1951 a total area of 24,700 km 2 (9,600 square miles) has been 
photographed. For topographic purposes 17,850 km 2 (6,900 square miles) 
were photographed at scales between 1:10,000 and 1:22,000 using the Santoni 
III camera and the Zeiss RMK'20/3030. For cadastral purposes 5,700 km 2 
(2,200 square miles) were photographed. Of this 4,200 km 2 (1,600 square miles) 
were photographed at scales from 1:8,000 to 1:10,000 using the Santoni III 
camera, and a further 1,500 km 2 (580 square miles) at scales between 1:1,000 
and 1:4,000 using a Nistri camera. For technical plans 500 km 2 (190 square 
miles) were photographed at from 1:8,000 to 1:10,000 with the Santoni IV 
camera. For forestry 50 km 2 (19 square miles) were photogaphed at a scale of 
1:8,000 with the Santoni III. Various other uses required photography covering 
560 km 2 (220 square miles) at scales from 1:2,000 to 1:5,000 photographed with 
Nistri cameras. 
Netherlands 
Photography from 1948 to 1951 has covered a total of 191,000 km 2 (74,000 
square miles) of which 26,700 km 2 (10,000 square miles) was in the Netherlands 
and the remainder abroad. 
Recent photography for construction and revision of topographic maps now 
covers the total surface of the Netherlands. 23,500 km 2 (9,100 square miles) 
have been photographed at a scale of 1:20,000 using the 210 mm Wild RC-5. 
An additional 1,200 km 2 (460 square miles) have been photographed at a scale 
of 1:10,000 with the same camera. 
For cadastral survey 1,500 km 2 (580 square miles) have been photographed 
at a scale of 1:5,000 to 1:10,000 using the Wild RC-5 210 mm. Special photo 
graphy for river mapping, agriculture, engineering, and road construction has 
covered 500 km 2 (190 square miles) at scales between 1:17,500 and 1:5,000 
using the Wild RC-5 210 mm. 
Netherlands companies have also carried out aerial photography in other 
countries, covering a total area of 164,000 km 2 (63,000 square miles). In 
Venezuela 100,000 km 2 (39,000 square miles) have been photographed for geology 
and topography at scales from 1:25,000 to 1:40,000 using the Zeiss RMK 
P-10/1818 camera. In Borneo 52,000 km 2 (20,000 square miles) have been 
photographed for geological and topographic use. 45,000 km 2 (17,000 square 
miles) of this were photographed at a scale of 1:30,000 with the Williamson 6" 
Ordnance Survey Camera and 7,000 km 2 (2,700 square miles) at a scale of 
1:40,000 with the Zeiss RMK P10/1818. In Israel 7,360 km 2 (2,800 square 
miles) have been photographed for topographic, irrigation and town planning 
applications. The Wild RC-5 210 mm camera was used with a scale of 1:10,000. 
In Cayenne 4,000 km 2 (1,500 square miles) have been photographed at a scale 
of 1:30,000 for mining purposes using the Wild RC-5 110 mm camera. 1,000 
km 2 (390 square miles) have been photographed for cadastral use in Curacao, 
Aruba and Bonaire at a scale of 1:10,000 using the Wild RC-5 210 mm camera.
