measured separately. For a transition period it will be desirable to try to
combine these two results to give a value analogous to our present resolving
power, but finally we should seek the method by which these new values can
be used to determine the conditions for the best photographs for different
purposes. This may result in the replacement of the resolving power by some
entirely new concept.
