V. By way of experiment and training the Department of Photo-
graphy at the General Staff of Defence makes certain photogrammetric
mappings for military purposes and for planning of different kinds of
military constructions. Map-scales, methods and precision varies very
much and are in each case separately suited to need and initial material.
C) ORGANISATION - ÉCONOMY AHD STATISTICS.
a) Fotogrammetric mapping on a large extent is made by the
two State departments, the Geographical Survey Office and the Land
Survey District Organization. On a small extent also by the Department
of Photography at the General Staff of Defence and the Photogrammetric
division at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Private
organizations for photogrammetric mapping do not exist in Sweden
nowadays.
b) In the Geographical Survey Office are occupied about 350 per-
sons, whereof about 100 with photogrammetry. In the Land Survey Di-
strict Organization about 370 Land-Surveyors, 390 Surveying-Technicians
and 325 female-clerks are working; of them are 2 Land-Surveyors, 9
Technicians and 2 clerks occupied with stereoplotting.
c) The organization of the Land-Surveyors work is of a special
interest. See table under B1 II.
d) The Geographical Survey Office has a fixed tariff for the Eco-
nomic Maps, for reproductions of the Photo-Map and for ordinary pho-
tographs. On the other hand special offers are made for special mappings.
The Land Survey District Organization has a fixed tariff, based on the
cost price, for certain works and on a smaller sum than the cost price
for legal mappings.
The map-buyer supplies the helpers and material for the marking
and signalling. As to the Geographical Survey Office it is usually presup-
posed that the map-buyer also supplies the geodetic net-works, pass-
points a.s.o. At the Land Survey District Organization even these works
are executed.
e) Annually and totally mapped areas.
