COMMISSION VI DOCUMENTATION OF LITERATURE 9
APPENDIX A
A MODIFIED DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION
It is believed that the following medification of the
Dewey and Universal decimal classifications will provide for
an orderly arrangement of all the various classifications of
catalogue cards that are of interest to photogrammetrists,
This modification is required by the fact that t
he standard
decimal classifications do not properly classify photogram-
metry, cartography, and the graphic arts. It should be noted
that this system provides a detailed classification of those
subjects of special interest to photogrammetrists. On the
other hand, this same classification systems provides a broad
but sufficiently adequate classification for all
other mate-
rial on hand concerning subjects of lesser future value to
photogrammetrists. A further expansion of this
field of human interest can be obtaned from the
Federation of Documentation, Willem Witsenplein

In order to meet the present requirements of most photo-
grammetrists, it is believed that a file of document catalogue
cards should be subdivided into convenient fields of interest.
In order to indicate appropriate subdivisions, the following
decimal classification has been physically divided into ap-
proximately forty parts. The resulting file of
alogue cards can be further subdivided at any time by any user
without altering the decimal classification or the classifica-
tion of the document catalogue cards.
The following sub-divisions of this Decimal Classification
will be of special interest to experts in the fields of cartog-
document cat-
raphy, surveying, the graphic arts, and photographys
