(3) Future possibilities and research.
It is very much desirable that special photogrammetry shall be more
widely recognized than at present. Doubtless there are many possibilities
for application of its methods. It is to be desired that an energetic informa-
tion campaign shall be carried on in the different countries, and that
those professions which by experience have an advantage from using
photogrammetry e. g. physicians, dentists etc., shall be informed about its
possibilities. Further it is necessary to organize instruction and training
concerning the methods of special photogrammetry. Only in a few coun-
tries training for special photogrammetry is given. Often there is no litera-
ture where the conditions, methods and results of special photogrammetry
can be studied. Of great interest for the development is X-ray photogram-
metry, which has not at all received the importance it deserves. This is
probably due to the lack of instruction and to the fact that enough ex-
tensive investigations have not been made. A close co-operation between
physicians, dentists and photogrammetrists is very much desirable in
X-ray photogrammetry.
Forestry photogrammetry, which to a large extent falls under Com-
mission V, is developing rapidly in most countries. Also in this domain
special training in photogrammetry is required for foresters and a co-
operation between foresters and photogrammetrists is desired.
