B. Hallert: The grid method and the y-parallax method for the determina
tion of systematic disturbances in aerial photographs.
In this paper the grid method has been briefly mentioned and the y-parallax
method has been treated more in detail. The latter method is founded upon the
measurements of y-parallaxes in optical models of the pictures to be investigated.
After an adjustment of the relative orientation with numerical methods and
after correcting the measured y-parallaxes in certain points of the model, the
radial distortion can be determined in a very convenient way. Also other system
atic disturbances can be found as indicated in the paper. The measurements of
the y-parallaxes can be performed in different ways. Also the accuracy of the
determination of the radial distortion was treated.
In a number of diagrams the results of the application of the two methods
have been demonstrated.
parallaxen in optischen Modellen gegründet.

of lens distortion. . . . . . , .
( Publ. IT l) I be increasing requirements of accuracy in photogrammetry have made the
lens distortion a problem of first order. Certainly, the distortion may be
neutralized by means of optical compensations — Porro-Koppe principle, so-
called compensating plates and similar means — but there will always remain
adjustments depending upon imperfection of the compensating method. These
adjustments demand special consideration.
A mathematical treatment of the problem indicates that the influence of the
lens distortion upon the stereo-measurement is completely dependent upon the
type of the lens distortion curve. The maximum values, in general the only data
offered in the description of a photogrammetric camera, are important, of
course, but also the shape of the distortion curve. Thus, for two separate ob
jectives marred by approximately the same maximum lens distortion the stereo-
