Swiss experience shows that aerial photogrammetry is more effective for high mountain regions 
than terrestrial photogrammetry. The latter is only to be recommended when there is a lack of 
aircraft and other material. From the human point of view, terrestrial photogrammetry may be 
poetry and aerial procedures prose, but that does not detract from the intrinsic value of aerial 
photogrammetry. 
Prof. Finsterwalder thanked Prof. Marussi for his remarks. He thought it 
very valuable that maps from the expeditions were shown at the Italian Ex 
position as some of them were very difficult to get hold of.

Mr. Andrews related that in the Rocky Mountains of Canada, terrestrial 
photogrammetry was used as early as 1886. When one has first order photo 
grammetry equipment the mapping of high mountains is easily done by air 
planes and in plotting office. But not all provinces of Canada have first order 
equipment and terrestrial photogrammetry is then a very valuable aid for 
controlling the photographs. The combination of terrestrial and aerial photo 
graphs for mapping at a small scale is a method still used in British Columbia.

Geodetic and Photogrammetric Methods with the Use of Photographic 
Interpretation and Helicopter at Reallotment of Forested Land». Summary: 
Additional control survey can be established photogrammetrically. It is 
possible to tie in geodetic surveys with control points, determined photogram 
metrically, if the distance between them is longer than a critical one. 
Photointerpretation is nowadays used for mapping out of forested areas and 
others, for site classification and land appraisal. It is however necessary to have 
a system of sample plots, studied and measured in the field, and some check of 
the photointerpretation, with advantage from helicopter. Photointerpretation is 
also used for planning of roads and the new system of land estate boundaries. 
The setting out of the new boundaries may be done from control survey, from 
details in the drawn photogrammetrically made map or with the aid of coordi 
nates, measured on map with a coordinatograph, and also from details in the 
aerial photographs. 
Such a use of photogrammetry means that reallotment has to be done with 
a new method, which is described and compared with the older one. 
Eine Methode bei Flurbereinigung von Waldgebieten geodätische und photogram- 
metrische Verfahren mit einander und mit der Verwendung von Photo 
interpretation und Helikopter zu kombinieren 
Das Festpunktnetz einer Vermessung für Flurbereinigung kann mit photogrammetrischen Metho 
den verdichtet werden. Es wird dabei möglich geodätische Vermessungen an photogrammetrisch 
bestimmte Punkte anzuschliessen, wenn der Abstand zwischen den Punkten länger ist als eine 
gewisse kritische Strecke. 
Die Aufnahme, die Bonitierung und Bewertung der Waldgebiete kann heutzutage mit Hilfe von 
Photointerpretation ausgeführt werden. Dazu ist erforderlich ein System, im Felde untersuchter 
und gemessener Probeflächen zu haben und auch eine Kontrolle der Photointerpretation, eventuell 
von Helikopter aus, zu machen. Die Photointerpretation wird auch für den Entwurf von Wald 
wegen und die Planung von dem neuen Grenzsystem gebraucht. 
Die absteckung der neuen Grenzen kann von dem Festpunktnetz, von Einzelheiten des photo 
grammetrisch hergestellten gezeichneten Planes, oder mit Hilfe von Koordinaten, aus dem Plane 
mit einem Koordinatographe abgegriffen, und schliesslich auch von Einzelheiten der Flugaufnahmen 
vorgenommen werden. 
Eine solche Verwendung der Photogrammetrie bedeutet, dass die Flurbereinigung nach einer 
neuen Methode ausgeführt werden muss, die auch beschrieben und mit der alten verglichen wird.
