The floor was then given to Mr. R. Janicot, France. He wished to formulate 
the resolution 1. as follows: La Commission IV continuera les travaux expéri 
mentaux et de levés contrôlés en collaboration avec les organisations intéressées. 
Mr. Janicot thought it better for the clearness of the meaning of the resolution 
to separate the wording about fundamental and practical problems. 
Mr. Blachut, secretary of the commission, answered Mr. Janicot that the 
commission board did not want to limit the work to practical problems only, 
but wished to include also the fundamental questions pertaining to the experi 
mental work. 
Prof. Hallert, Sweden, emphasized that it is important that fundamental 
observations are treated in connection with the practical work. For instance, 
the determination of residual parallaxes of the models would be of great 
importance for the interpretation of the results of the entire procedure. 
After some further discussion the members of the session agreed to the 
wording of the resolution 1. as below. 
The president asked the members if they could agree to the wording of the 
proposed resolution 2. All agreed. 
Mr. Janicot said concerning the proposed resolutions 3 and 4 that he would 
like to add »et des levés contrôlés» after »travaux expérimentaux» to the word 
ings of the two proposed resolutions. 
After some discussion all agreed to the wording of the resolutions 3 and 4 
as below.

Thereafter the word was given to Mr. M. Baussart, France. He mentioned 
a resolution proposed by the French delegation concerning »Essais contrôlés 
2 — Vercors». 
Il est demandé que chacun des participants à l’essai no 2 (qui ne l’avait pas 
encore fait) adresse aux présidents des commissions II ou IV les rapports détaillés 
sur les travaux effectués (rapport indiquant comment ont été conduits les 
travaux, le temps passé aux divers opérations et les résultats obtenus) et que 
les différents rapports soient publiés intégralement. 
Il est demandé également que chacun des rapports publiés comprenne une 
reproduction de la minute de levé. 
L’Institut Géographique National pourra, s’il est nécessaire, apporter son 
aide matérielle pour l’exécution de ces travaux (impression, reproduction). Il est 
demandé que les essais contrôlés soient poursuivis: pour des essais contrôlés 
ultérieurs, une seule commission devrait être compétente, quelle que soit l’échelle 
des travaux envisagés. 
Il est demandé que, pour des essais contrôlés ultérieurs, le problème à résoudre 
étant posé sans ambiguité, toute latitude soit laissée aux participants dans le 
choix de la méthode et des moyens à mettre les œuvres pour arriver au résultat 
cherché. 
Des recommendations pourraient toutefois être faites aux participants rela 
tivement à tel problème jugé particulièrement intéressant. 
Chaque participant à l’essai devrait s’astreindre à respecter le règlement de 
l’essai. 
Pour être pleinement significatifs les essais devraient porter sur une polygone 
de dimensions suffisants. 
Mr. Blachut answered that the commission board could agree to the contents 
of the resolution submitted by Mr. Baussart. But as some parts of the proposed 
resolution were covered by the resolutions submitted by the commission board, 
he proposed that Mr. Baussart’s proposal should be treated as a recommen 
dation.
