On the basis of what contained in the general rules for carrying out experimental 
researches, the various working Centres having once received the photographie material 
and ground-points indications, were quite at liberty to choose amongst these latter 
both as number and position, those points that in accordance with the various procee- 
dings, were to be used to carry out and compensate the block. The coordinates of the 
chosen points were, afterwards, sent them. 
The French 1.G.N. photogrammetric Service, that did all the complicated work 
of preparing and distributing the photographic material, on the 5th of last July 
communicated to this Presidency Bureau the list of dates of material sent to each 
Centre: these dates are reported in table N° 8. 
As it can be seen by the documentary history of the organization of flights and 
material distribution, and despite the good-will shown by all and by the French I.G.N. 
in particular, measuring works could only be started very late, too late in fact, to 
hope to finish them at all in time for the London Congress. 
The French I.G.N. informed of having started triangulation works about the mid- 
dle of January 1960, and from that date sent out periodically, as contemplated by 
the rules, copies of all measurement documents and computation results. 
The Canadian Centre in its own turn, communicated of having started measure- 
ment-works, in the middle of March, and this Centre too, kept this Presidency Bu- 
reau informed of how works were proceeding. 
Since no further news were collected, the Commission III’s Presidency invited 
with letter dated June 13th, 1960 the participants in experimental works to send a 
detailed report on the works’ stage and on proceedings taken. All participants answe- 
red within the fixed date informing us about all our queries. 
Dutch Centre. — Prof. Schermerhorn informs us that the Centre of Delft could 
not start yet works, owing to the delay of material sending. He assures that the ma- 
terial shall employed, in the future, for experimenting a new proceeding of analytical 
triangulation per blocks. Measurements shall be executed on the Wild Stereocom- 
parator. 
The Centre of Delft intends to adjust the block following two methods: the first 
one, by an analogie computer: the second one by an analytical adjustment which has 
been, since short, developped at Delft. 
Swiss Centre — Prof. Zeller, after he reminded the Centre's contribution to flights, 
informs us that, unfortunately, the block can not be triangulated and adjusted before 
the Congress beginning. 
Italian Centre. — Prof. Solaini, in his communication, reminds that since his first 
request to participate in the experimental researches, he was stating of being not able 
to start measurements on the photographic material of the « Massif Central» block 
before the Congress beginning. 
He states, anyway, that in the near future, he will start measuring the plate co- 
ordinates of points, on the OMI Stereocomparator TA 3. 
American Centre. — Prof. Brandenberger informs us that the work program at 
his Centres has been established as follows: 
1. — All strips are triangulated at the Wild Autograph A 7 with electric coordi-
