THE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

University of Illinois Committee on Aerial Photography
In response to expressed needs of its several departments, the University
of Illinois formally appointed a Committee on Aerial Photography in October
1958. This committee was charged with the following responsibilities:
l. Advise all departments and administrative offices with regard to the:
a. Availability and capability of University-owned equipment
and University personnel.
b. Preparation of specifications for aerial photography
needed in completion of specific tasks or projects.
C. Cost of securing the aerial photography needed to
complete specific tasks or projects. (Cost estimates
will consider all sources of existing photography and
the cost of special flights when required.
d. Procurement of equipment required to complete specific
tasks or projects, and equipment needed for
instructional purposes.
e, Organization and maintenance of aerial negative and
print files.
f. Photogrammetry and photographic interpretation quali-
fications of University students and staff members.
2. Service all departments and offices by:
a. Coordinating requests for aerial photography and com-
bining small jobs into larger jobs when possible.
b. Coordinating departmental requests for major items of
equipment,
c. Coordinating research projects involving aerial photo-
graphs.
d. Maintaining basic files of personnel qualifications,
equipment capabilities and catalogues, and abstracts
of technical literature related to the use of aerial
photography.
