INTRODUCTION
National Cartographic Center (N.C.C.) was established by Plan Organi-
zation during 1953, for coordinating survey and mapping as needed for the
increasing number of all types of development projects in the country.
To meet the future needs of trained personnel for the different govern-
mental and private organizations, a training school was established by N.C.C.
in 1954 and reorganized in 1965 with an extended curriculum.
The future needs of the country will be met by the following expanding
organizations:
f.
N
The National Geographic Organization (responsible for all geodetic
works and the production of small scale basic map series to cover the
country).
The National Cartographic Centre (responsible for cadastral map-
ping, large scale mapping and surveys as required for project work).
The National Iranian Oil Company and the Oil Operating and
Producing Companies (responsible for all scales of maping as required
for exploration and production in the oil producing areas).
Private Survey Companies (whose facilities are at the disposal of
N.G.O. and N.C.C. and whose technical capabilities are assessed,
graded and controlled by the two official organizations).
