CHAPTER IV
MAP PRODUCTION
The main compilation activity was in the 1:50 000 map with about - -
400 000 sq Km (in a high proportion, direct scribing for contours was
used ).
The 1:500 map for cadastral work had a very important impulse, in most
cases using color photographs and precision plotters.
Intermediate scales mainly used for engineering purposes, had a fair pro
duction. Fm
CHAPTER V
NON TOPOGRAPHIC APPLICATIONS
Just a few engineering applications of photogrammetry not having rela- -
tion to topographical mapping were reported. At the moment, a broad -
plan for archeological inventory is being lined out, photogrammetry and
photointerpretation are to be the main tools in this research.
Before the Mexican Photogrammetric Society was established, only a
few mexican publications appeared. By now technical literature have
increased, and one of the problems is that the Spanish terminology is
rather poor, and not equivalent in different Spanish speaking countries.
As a policy the operators were trained starting as assistant operator.
In other organizations a complete high school standard was required, -
and after passing psichotechnic and oftalmologic examination, a short -
theoretical curse was given and afterwards training in especialized fields
took place.
CHAPTER VI
PHOTOINTERPRETATION
In the reported period the main photointerpretation applications were the
following :
Geology (Medium level and economic geology)
Forestry
Land Use
Edaphology
Potential Land Use
