DERBY AND DISTRICT COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY. Dept. of Civil
Engineering and Building
Some photogrammetry is included in a London University external degree
course in civil engineering. The department's HNC course in civil engineering
also includes the topic of photogrammetry, but this being a part time course, the
depth to which it is possible to go in this subject is rather limited.
DIRECTORATE OF OVERSEAS SURVEYS
Technician training for photogrammetric operators is provided for its own
staff. The Land Resources division conduct short courses in air photographic
interpretation and land planning for local members of overseas agricultural,
forestry, and land planning departments. These courses have proved very
successful and popular.
DURHAM UNIVERSITY. Dept.of Geography
The second year practical class includes photogrammetry. It is possible to
go further with this as an option, but very few students take advantage of this
facility.
EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY, Dept,of Forestry and Natural Resources
The department offers a BSc course in ecological science during which
simple instruction is given in forest survey and mensuration and in aerial
survey, radialtriangulation, and contour mapping.
EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY, School of Built Environment
Aspects of photogrammetry are taught. The department applies the science
to archaeology and particularly under-water archaeology.
FAIREY SURVEYS LTD
Two formual training courses have been established, for the training of
young men in photogrammetry with a view to their becoming instrument
operators, and for the training of experienced photogrammetric instrument
operators in ground completion techniques. The first course is partly practical
and partly theoretical and lasts from two to three months. The second course is
practical and lasts from one to two months. *
*GLASGOW UNIVERSITY. Dept,of Geography
The new BSc degree in topographic science has been implemented. It can
now be taken either as an ordinary or an honours degree (154). The established
postgraduate diploma in photogrammetry continues to run, and Ph, D, and
M. Sc, degrees have been awarded for theses submitted in several of the resbarch
