Summary
The use of orthophotomaps for location and design
of highways as well as for operation and maintenance
is explained.
Directions and recommendations for the production
of orthophotomaps are given with regard to:
scales of aerial negatives and maps, focal
distances of aerial cameras and overlap of
photographs, location of stereo-models in
relation to map sheets, assembly of road
design, property map, contour lines and the
photomap, quality requirements and photo-
graphic tolerance, assembly and reproduc-
tion of orthophotomaps.
Samples of typical orthophotomaps to illustrate
these special fields of application to highway
work are enclosed.
