a. Orthocartograph.
The Orthocartograph consists of three parts:
- stereoplotter of conventional mechanical type,
- optical image transfer system,
- printing unit.
The plate carriers accept photographs up to the
usual size of 24 cm x 24 cm, and the focal distances can
be varied from 85 mm to 215 mm. The magnification ratio
between the aerial photographs and the model varies from
0.8 x 2.2x depending upon the focal distance.
The corresponding image elements of the left and
right photographs are transferred to the two respective
printing drums.

The image transfer system is in the form of opti-
cal scissors. They are stationary during the rectifica-
tion and printing of consecutive scanned strips. The posi-
tion of the scissors is slightly changed for each strip
Without changing the Length of the optical path of the
image transfer system. All image corrections foreseen at
present are incorporated in the system. The magnification
ratio between photographs and stereo-orthophotos can be
