varied from 1.5x to 5.0x. ^A continuously changeable speed
of scanning and the corresponding automatic control of film
exposure is being attempted.

Á separate channel will permit the hook-up of an
automatic image correlation device. An on-line and an
off-line mode of operation are foreseen. To control the
operation an incremental digital servo system has been
introduced throughout the instrument.
b. Stereocompiler
This is a very simple stereo-plotter for proces-
sing of stereo-orthophotos. Two models have been built:
one, smaller, for graphical plotting and measurements of
elevations, and the second, much larger model equipped
also: with. X and. Y coordinates measuring facilities. Air
cushions provide smooth, frictionless, simultaneous move-
ment of both images. : The plot ds scribed directly on a
scribe coat, and the result is visible in the viewing sys-
tem which is a very important and novel feature. Another
new and very interesting possibility is plotting (scribing)
in the stereo-mode. This is necessary for true, three-
dimensional mapping, a new concept of map.
