The most recent investigations of the utility of luminescence 
observations have dealt largely with pollutants including mine 
effluents, urine, feed lot effluents and effluents from city sewer 
systems. Successful preliminary tests have been undertaken with the 
FLD to detect and measure concentrations of these substances although 
further quantification remains to be done.
