2.5.2 Applications:
Applications in aerial photography and in survey practice are reviewed
in paragraph 3 of this paper.
2.5.3 Instrumentation:
The heart of the ITC PHOTNAV system are the instruments summarized
under 2.4.3 *Doppler".
In addition to these:
Interface/digital computer,
Recorder of longitude and latitude coordinates of each exposure station, on tape.
Record of longitude and latitude of each exposure, on the aerial film.
The heart of the Fokker F-27 integrated INS system are the instruments
summarized under 2.4.3. “INS”.
In addition to these:
Two aerial cameras, modified to be integrated with the system
Radar altimeter
Digital camera display system (longitude, latitude, altitude, roll angle, pitch
angle, heading, drift, time GMT, and manual data)
Note: These data are recorded on the aerial film at each exposure
station: they are also recorded on a separate tape.
3 Modern Integrated Survey Flight and Navigation Systems
During the last inter-congresses four-year period, two new approaches
have been made:
3A. Integrated survey navigation system, intended to produce perfect
photographic navigation
Example: ITC PHOTNAV system.
3B. Integrated survey navigation and position and attitude sensing and
recording system, intended a) to produce perfect photographic
navigation, and b) to produce and to record the aerial camera's elements
of exterior orientation in position, altitude, and attitude.
Example: Fokker F-27 integrated inertial system.
JA. ITC PHOTNAV svstem
This system is described in two presented papers for this congress:
F.L.J.H. Corten and F:J. Heimes, The ITC PHOTNAV System, (Commission I),
