Evaluation of Contour Lines

" The following contour sheets were obtained:
Gestalt Photo Mapper II: Contours at the scale of 1:10 000 plotted
on-line from automatic correlation data (Fig. 4).
Kelsh K 320: Contours produced by the Calcomp automatic contouring program
ona Calcomp plotterat the U.S. Forest Service. Three con-
tour sheets at the scale of 1:2 500 were produced. One of
these was based on recorded profile heights at intervals of
AX =5 mm,AY =4.8mm (14 000 points) using unedited profile
data (Fig. 5). Another was based on profile heights at
intervals of AX = 10 mm, AY = 4.8 mm (7 000 points) using
unedited profile data, and the third was based on profile
heights at intervals of 4X = 10mm, AY = 9.6mm (3 500 points)
after a data smoothing and rejection program was used.
Wild PPO-8: Contours produced by the Stuttgart Contour Program. The
computation of contours was based on profile heights at inter-
vals of AX = 5 mm, AY = 5 mm (average) and, in addition,
