The Board owns two WILD A8 Autograph instruments - one fitted 
with IBM Punch Card readout for digital production and the other 
fitted with a WILD PPO8 Orthophoto attachment. These instruments 
are operated within the Photogrammetric Branch of the State Lands 
Department, and are continuously engaged on Investigation (Loca- 
tion) mapping for road engineering purposes. 
Private mapping Consultants are engaged, under an Agreement and 
Specification for Photogrammetric Mapping, to undertake the pre- 
paration of Project (Design) mapping for detailed design of roads 
and freeways.

Photography is arranged through an annual State Government Con- 
tract. The Board's Photogrammetry Section of the Plans & Surveys 
Division maintains liaison and specific control over all mapping 
services. The Title Survey Division and Engineering Survey Sec- 
tion respectively, carry out Project Control surveys and Photo E 
Control Surveys for all mapping projects. 
Experimental and developmental research is currently being con- 
ducted in conjunction with the Engineering Computer Section of 
the Board, toward formulation of digital mapping programmes and 
computer design techniques for road engineering purposes.

Photogrammetric services are provided to the Main Roads Depart- 
ment predominantly by the State Lands Department, but some pro- 
ductive work is let to private practitioners generally on a com- 
petetive tender basis.
