To collect comprehensive data about the photogrammetric,
equivalents
photointerpretational and remote sensing education in the
United States 1260 questionnaires were sent out by Mr.Nea-
ley. But only about 300 of them have been returned to date.
The DES is biased. Firstly, not all surveyees completed

of those dealing with photogrammetry,cartography and
systems /electrical engineering/ do not remain in proportion
to remote sensing or photointrepretation responses.
The survey has identified six institutions that offer
minors in photogrammetry, three with masters programs and
four with Ph.D programs. There are at least six schools that
offer minors in remote sensing, five with marters programs
and five with Ph.D. programs.
The collected data conserns 118 remote sensing courses,
35 photointerpretation courses, 15 photogeology courses, 56
photogrammetry courses, 2 optic science courses, 4 image
processing courses, 28 cartography courses and 26 related
courses, i.e. systems'design. A distinction between photo-
interpretation and remote sensing was made on the basis of
