the vegetation is not discernible.
KA-2 aerial camera (U.S. military surplus) has a 9-inch X 9-inch format
12-inch foral length and features an f.3.8 lens and rapidyne shutter with
speeds to 1/750 seconds. The A-9A film magazine was modified for light
indicators when film supply was expended and when vacuum pressure was
The KA-2 lens resolves approximately 40 lines per mm with
fall-off in the corners of the photo. We have consistently
quality imagery with the KA-2 12-inch aerial camera.
Techniques
Film exposure, cloud cover, time of day, elevation, and photo overlap
(stereo or nonstereo) are important parameters which vary by resource to
be photographed.
1. Film exposure
Croplands require the precise exposure as indicated on the
light meter.
Rangelands are best discerned by slight underexposure.
Forestlands require slight overexposure.
2. Cloud cover
Low cloud cover is to be avoided at all times.
a.
b. Clear skies are needed for crop and grass rangelands photo-
graphy.
c. High overcast skies are highly useful and desirable for
brush, rangelands, and forestland photography.
Low clouds affect the photography ín two ways. The clouds themselves
will obscure the ground, and the shadows are badly underexposed so that
