- multitemporal 11 channel MSS aircraft data. FMP
- multitemporal Landsat MSS data
- 13 channel MSS Skylab data.
The confrontation of different data basis permits an optimiza-
tion of sensor combinations for low redundant information acqui-
sition for different targets. This is an important kind of ex-
periment as the data flow produced by operational systems must
be adapted to the capabilities of the user cummunity.
Up to now it is not clear what spectral features are signifi-
cant for what physical state. On the other hand the most impor-
tant drivers for the management of data are:
- data rate (bit/s)
- number of different channels and channels to be handled
simultaneously
- Spatial resolution.
In order to optimize the operational use it is necessary to
develop mathematical models which should allow to get estimations
| on:
| - the best choise of spectral wavelengths
| - necessary spatial resolution and dynamic range for each wa-
- velength
- low redundancy between different channels
- optimization of spatial resolution.
The described investigations should serve as examples for this
important task.
