investigations in this respect, may provide an
empirical relation between the light radiance
and the depth of water.
Further Scope for Study:
The behaviour of light at higher turbidity values
has not been studied. A further study on waters
at higher turbidity values in the laboratory as
well as in the field is warranted to see if the
reflectance curve either flattens or decreases as
turbidity increases. Also the Sacchi depth and
extinction depth studies can be made with different
coloured discs for better definition of the turbi-
dity.
Further laboratory analysis of the water samples as
to the individual pollutants present gives informa-
tion on the behaviour of light with different types
of pollution.
À study of the nature could establish a procedure for
effective pollution monitoring and helps to take
effective measures to prevent hazardous effects of
pollution on humanbeing, plants and acquatic life.
The water bodies selected being small the M28 data
obtained is not highly reliable. If a large water
body like a tank or river is taken for correlation
of Scanner data with turbidity levels, more reliable
information can be obtained.
