Although this gives no clear idea of the frequency, this table does
give some indication that most users have photographs made, if not annually,
then every few years.
In the questionnaire, the coverage of the various projects was asked.
The answers are not quantitatively useful, but in nearly every case it was
indicated that the whole area under administrative control was surveyed by
air (apart from national concerns).
Although it cannot be explicity concluded from the responses, it can
nevertheless be assumed that the area controlled by the autority in queation
is one of the strongest criteria in the choice of scale.
After this technical information, there now follow comments about the
actual objective of this research: the use of aerial photography in physical
planning.
The replies are firstly ordered in such a way that an idea can be
gained of the variety of uses. In figure 7 below is recorded, per administra-
tive level, the number of different acitivties for which aerial photography

Figure 7 NUMBER OF ACTIVITIES IN WHICH AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY IS USED
Although ihe distribution is widespread, a slight concentrations can
be distinguished around 3 and 4. In one case there appears to be an
extremely high usage of aerial photography for 14 different activities
(columm 59). From the questionaires it is apparant that this local autho-
rity makes use of 3 different sorts of material.
