Over land a SLAR with somewhat better resolution than the
75 m x 75 m obtainable with Ericsson SLAR would be preferable
for most applications. Figure 6 shows an example of radar
mapping with this moderate resolution.
A SLAR is an excellent sensor for coastal surveillance since
not only oil spills and sea ice but also islands and ships
show up on the radar picture.
