Full text: Advances in the quality of image data

In addition to the improved image and speed, the film was also designed to produce sensitometric
characteristics similar to KODAK PANAROMIC-X AERECON Film Type 3410 and be compatible with existing
processors such as the high speed KODAK VERSAMAT Film Processor,. Model. 1140.
Table II illustrates a comparison between the improved film KODAK PANATOMIC-X AERECON..II Film Type
3412, KODAK PANATOMIC-X AERECON Film Type 3410 and KODAK High Definition Aerial Film Type. 3414.

During the past year Eastman Kodak Company has announced the introduction of several Photoconductive
films. Photoconductive (PC) Technology is not a recent advance in imaging systems. It has been
utilized in the copier industry for two decades. What is new and exciting are new Eastman Kodak PC
film products that can be used as transparent imaging media for a wide variety of applications that
include aerial recording. These non-silver photoconductive films offer unique properties which should
accelerate their acceptance. Associated with these films, Kodak has developed a family of liquid
developers that will provide extremely high levels of quality (in excess of 400 line pairs per mm) and
archival-type permanence. Four steps are used to process these materials: charging, exposing,
developing and drying. Each step can take as little as one to two seconds so that final images can be
delivered in five to ten seconds.
An engineering model of a printer/processor is being demonstrated in the United States at the
present time. This processor is a compact in-line machine which rapidly produces high quality
duplicates in sizes up to 5 inches using Kodak Aerial PC Print Film (SO-426) and EKTAMARK Liquid Toner.
The printer/processor operates in roomlight at 25 feet per minute and requires no plumbing or drains.
Image quality is equal to or better than conventional duplicating systems.
I feel confident that industry will continue to fill the requirements for aerial photography with
new and innovative products as well as improve existing products.
