The printed results of this system reveal a "natural
green" color version of the original CIR scene.
The chromatic transposition was more attractive to the
users because they could recognize ground features
easier in natural colors.
When collar, grid, graticule, the lettering guides,
border information, etc., were prepared, Cromalin*
color proofs were made to validate the procedures.
All materials were then sent to the USGS Printing and
Distribution Center for printing. Many of the carto
graphic preparation steps have been omitted from
this paper, because the actual photographic preparation
is the subject matter of primary interest.
