This scanning provides data for digital terrain model
(Digital Elevation Models) and data can also be used to drive
"off line" orthophoto projectors.
Cost of gathering meaningful data on the analytical stereoplotter is,
as a minimum, about the same cost as digitizing from existing maps.
The advantages are:
o All data is on common geographic base;
o All data at a common time period;
o Accuracy of the data is adequate to use for development and
implementation of "action plans";
o One can easily return to the photograph to gather more data;
o Can generate data in areas not already having maps, etc.;
o Can get data in a GIS at any level of accuracy required.
