The printer selected to operate with the WICAT 150 is the Integral Data
Systems Prism Printer, a four-color graphics printer with a speed of 200
cps. The printer and WICAT 150 are pictured in Figure 6.
5. COMPARATOR
At this time, no specific comparator has been selected to be an
integral part of STARS. Rather, the system has been configured to operate
with any comparator having an RS-232Coutput. Compatible, commercially
available comparators include the K&E Mono Digital Comparator, the Kern
MK2 and the Zeiss PKi. In the first quarter of 1983 CSI plans to intro-
duce as a retrofit to the K&E comparator an automatic centering unit employ-
ing digital output from a solid state camera. Precision of setting with
this unit is expected to be on the order of 0.3um for images of retroreflec-
tive targets recorded on Tech Pan film.
6. CONCLUSION
With STARS a true systems approach has for the first time been applied
to close-range photogrammetry. The consequences are expected to be far
reaching and profound.
