In Table 04, it is presented the final
results of land use classification. The
environmental regions accounted for some
13% of total area and the productive land for
87%.
Table 04. Land Use Classification
As noted above, the classification
scheme was design to place the lands into four
classes. In Table 05, is presented the multiple
classes of productive lands, for pine
reforestation. Most of the area falls into soils
with high potential of erosion and low site
index. Those areas require efforts in terms of
operational and silvicultural research. Around

2096 of productive land is of good site index

Even though the research program is still
in progress, some interesting points can be
raised from the results:
e It is necessary to study new models and
improve the existing ones, to set land use
classification to forest management.
e [t is necessary to improve data collection
about wildlife, water resources and other
environmental variables to better define
new models
e It should be of great importance to apply
models that include optimization
technologies.
e The utility of the procedure and the results
accomplished by the research program, are
being very valuable to INPACEL, as a way
to start a new forest management
administration.
e In practical terms, the results are not so bad.
There are so many coincidences of the
results with operational reality, that
encourage the continuity of the study.
