photography. The change of each information which is
contained in the duplicated images in the color copies were
examined.
All tests were conducted by the flow diagram shown in
Fig. 11. An aerial color photograph which seemed to have
‘A good tone quality was selected and three kinds of test chart
were added on the photography.
Fig. 12 shows the test aerial photography with 15 test
color patches, a resolution test chart and grey step tablet,
This test image was printed on an aerial color negative
film, #2445,and an aerial reversal color film, #2448, and used
as original films for the quality evaluation test.
From those two films, duplicated images were prepared by
using the color papers as Kodak 37RC, Fuji, Sakura, Mitsubishi,
Kodak 14RC, chibachrome CCP, and if necessary, duplicating
films as Kodak #6120, #4109, #2447, #6110 and Chibachrome CCT,
and the qualities of those duplicated images were measured.
4-1 TONE REPRODUCTION CHARACTERISTICS
Fig. 13 and 14 show the tone reproduction characteristics
of the color papers #37RC and #14RC, respectively, which were
duplicated from the origingal positive #2448, The color
balance of the #37RC paper was better than that of the l4RC
paper.
Cyan layer of Chiba-chrome CCT duplicated from the 2445 had
a lower gamma compared with the other two layers and the color
of duplicated image became reddish. This means that the
Chiba-chrome CCT does not match with the aerial color negative
film $2445 (Fig.15).
Tone reproduction characteristics of the duplicated images
produced by using the duplicating films; (2445-4109-6110-37RC)
and (2448-2447-6120-37RC) were shown in Fig.16 and Fig.17.
In these images, the good color balances were obtained in
the highlight and the medium part, but not in the shadow part.
The black became to be reddish,
In order to predicate numerically the tone reproduction
quality of the duplicating system radiation transfer,a contrast
index was defined. This index is calculated by using the
following equation from differnces of the densities A Dp of
the original film which corresponds to two magenta densities
D122.0 and D5-20.3 of the duplicated image.
The image contrast = 1 : 104Dp
