It is considered that this image well inform us the landscape of
the Mt. Fuji, specially in the part of the top surroundings. The bright
part and the shade & shadow makes good contrast. It enables for us to
| grasp the real environment in spacial feeling at a glance.
Photo. 3 is also a displayed image on the CRT of Image-100 which
shows the LANDSAT LANDSCAPE on the upper part and the LANDSAT MAP on
the lower part. This enables for us to know the scenery environment
both pranimetrically and spacially.
7. CONCLUSION AND PROSPECT
It becomes clear that the landscape on the ground can be obtained
from LANDSAT MSS data by attaching it the topographical data. Figure 5
shows an image processing flow of LANDSAT data for environmental survey
containing a flow of manufacturing the landscape drawing.
£u
One pixel size of the MSS data on LANDSAT 1 and 2 is 57 m x 79 m.
In case of this pixel size, when manufacturing the landscape view as
shown here, the image gives an impression of roughness, in another word,
an impression likes a kind of oil painting. However, the higher
the resolving power of LANDSAT data, in future, the finer LANDSAT
LANDSCAPE drawing will be able to be gotten.
LANDSAT LANDSCAPE drawing will be contribute to scientists who
think environmental problems, land use planner or the others who have
interest in it. Also, in future, it will become possible to draw freely
the landscape on the Moon, on the Mars or the other planets by
the method as shown here.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The authers are grateful to Dr. Teruhiko Umezono and Mr. Masanori
Itami of the Mitsui Construction co., Ltd. who contributed to the
topographical data acquisition for MESH D.T.M..
