Third, a block of 5 by 5 photographs with 60% forward overlap
and 60% sidelap was adjusted using a bundle method and 19 control
points located approximately in the centers of the sixteen border
photographs and in the centers of the three remaining photographs
of the center flight line. 98 additional points were available for
error analysis. Table 5 lists some of the results, the mean values
and the root mean square values of the residuals, for all three
ground coordinates in image scale. With the exception of calibration
5, all calibrations result in practically the same positional
accuracy (m^ t 4.2 um, my 7 30570: In addition, calibrations
2a, 3a and 4b result in approximately the same elevation accuracy
(m, X 7.9 nm) and the same overall accuracy (ma * 0.7), as do
calibrations 6 and 7 (m, X 12.9 um, mo^ X 1.1). The difference in
Table 5 Results from a bundle adjustment of a 5
by 5 block of 1:5500 aerial photographs
using different calibration date [15]
for lens distortion correction. X, Y
and Z are the mean values of the residu-
als on 98 check points, my, and m,
the rms values of these residuals; rp,
is the maximum distance from the photo-
graph center of points used in the cali-
bration; and nec is the number of
image points corrected with extrapolated
lens distortion data
