S) Scene 6: Echo Hall
The Echo Hall was built in the second half of the 4" century
B.C. and the building played an important role to create a new
landscape of the sanctuary. The screen of the columns marked
the east boarder of the sanctuary and articulated its space very
clearly. With the erection of the Echo Hall, the sanctuary was
enclosed and was strengthened its sacred precinct. (Fig.7)

6) Treasuries
The northern boarder of the sanctuary had been marked from
the Archaic period by the treasuries which were dedicated by
various cities. They were built at the foot of Kronos Hill and
higher approximately 5 m from the ground level of the
sanctuary. Thus, a row of some ten treasuries on higher place
made the space more monumental and grandiose with the
staircases which extended along the front of the treasuries
(Fig.8). In the first half of the 4" century B.C., the Metroon was
built right in front of these tresuries, and it added the
monumental atmosphere around the northeast corner of the
sacntuary. At the west end of these treasuries, there was erected
a semicircular Nympheion.
7) Scene 6: View toward the south from the treasuries
There were a row of sculptures of athletes who won the
Olympic games in front of the grand staircase. We see all
around in the sanctuaries.
