In future new simulations are needed, to analyse the ac-
curacy of combined systems, also including navigational
and object information. As à prerequisite for this it
should be investigated which types of geodetic, naviga-
tional and object information are available and useful
in this respect.
re 3: The results of topics 1 and 2 should allow the development
: of procedures for proper planning of combined point deter-
mination. Moreover, the development of efficient procedures
for the adjustment of combined systems is to be promoted.
Photogrammetric information should not be restricted to photographic
images but should include digital image data from opto-electronic
cameras.
The emphasis of the WG is on aerial triangulation, although the top-
ics mentioned are of importance for triangulation in close range pho-
togrammetry, too.
Practical experiments are not planned for the present period.
. Ás of June 1986 WG III/1 has 26 active members and 37 corresponding
members.
The WG is in contact or in cooperation With
Working Group I/3 ("Sensor Orientation and Navigation") and
Working Group V/l ("Analytics of Non-Topographic Photogrammetry")
of the ISPRS and with
Special Study Group 1.73 ("Integrated Geodesy")
Special Study Group 1.76 ("Positioning with GPS")
Special Study Group 1.77 ("utilization of Inertial Techniques for
Geodesy") and
Special Study Group 4.60 ("Statistical Methods for Estimation and
Testing of Geodetic Data")
of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG).
. The first WG III/1 meeting took place in Stuttgart on October 4,-1985.
After a discussion on the topics of the WG three subgroups were
formed, dealing with the following aspects:
A. Accuracy criteria and simulations using photogrammetric
and classical geodetic data (parts of topics 1 and 2).
B. Investigations concerning "new data" (e.g. from inertial
surveying systems, NAVSTAR GPS) and simulations using these
data and photogrammetric data (part of topic 2).
C. Computational aspects of and software development for
Combined Point Determination (part of topic 3)
. A joint workshop of WG III/1 and the IAG Special Study Groups 1.73
and 4.60 on “Combined Adjustment of Heterogeneous Geodetie and
Photogrammetric Data" will be held on September 22-24, 1986 at the
University FAF Munich, F.R.G.
. During the WG III/1 meeting at the Commission III Symposium in
Rovaniemi the details of a further workshop to be held in Delft 1987
and the preliminary WG program for the ISPRS Congress in Kyoto 1988
will be discussed.
