——A general purpose minicomputer NUVA 3 of Data General Corpora-
tion equipped with extended memory of 256 K bytes is used to con
trol both image data input and output devices. Two computer-compat-
ible 9 track magnetic tape units can be recognized as two "pnoto-
carriages" as usually equipped on photogrammetric plotting machines.
Tne image digitizing procedure is executed under the control of run-
ning a special program so-called FSPP being independent with the
operating system of NOVA computer. The FSPP program, supplied by
system's manufacturer JOYCE-LOBBbL Corperation UK, consists of a
&roup of commands, with wnich some Macro-Commands can be programmed
to carry out defferent kind of processing function, such as "From
3SCANDIG To Magnetic Tape", "From Tape To Filmwriter" and several
rather simlpe processing functions. ©
Figure 1 shows a diagrammetric form of this system. SODAMS is an
off-line digital correlation software system written in FORTRAN.
Tnerefore, it is relatively independent of the hardware construction
maintioned above. There is no special processor for supporting off-
line correlation.

2. DESCRIPTION UF l'Ht LOGICAL CUMFONENTS OF SODAMS
The software package of SODAMS has been analyzed and divided into
several logical components. The criterion for constructing these
components is purely their functions in the digital automatic
napping procedure. 'he interconnections of the logical components
with data files (original image data, parameter data, intermediate
data and final result data) are shown in Figure 2. All components
can be run either in its entirety under command "HDAMS" or individ-
ually. roliowing is a description of each logical component's func-
tion and it's distinguishing feature.
