Photogrammetry in Greece 
Aerótopographic Direction. 
Since 1954 the Topographic Service was promoted to Topographic 
and Cadastral Service with four technical directions. By this time 
the «Phototopographic Section» was promoted to «Aerotopographic 
Direction». Unfortunately this promotion was not followed up by 
any essential improvements in the means provided. So, with the ex- 
ception of the supply of:

no other photogrammetric instruments were provided. On the con- 
trary, many instruments, among those which were not in continues 
operation, were transferred to the classes of the National Technical 
University of Athens for education and practice of the students, and 
mainly for those belonging to the faculty of Rural and Topographic 
Engineering. During the period of the last six years the accompli- 
shed photogrammetric work can be summed up to the following : 
20632 photographs in 107 flights; 7600 sq. km. photogrammetric 
maps in a scale of 1:20000, and 3200 sq. km. in a scale of 1:5 000 
aproximately, and a further number of minor works. 
JA THE.PRESENT POSITION 
From the above historical report on the development of Photogram- 
metry in Greece its present position is obvious. But because ofthe 
increasing Photogrammetry of other Services or Organizations, with 
the exception of the those mentionned above, it would be reaso- 
nable to add here all those that cover photogrammetric actvities in 
Greece, recently. 
. THE GREEK ROYAL AIR FORCI 
Disposes of a Dacota airplane specially arranged for aerial photo- 
graphy. With this airplane, all needed pictures are taken for their 
own use and for all other Services, and Organizations which gene- 
rally interest aerial photography. 
. ARMY GEOGRAPHIC SERVICE 
This senir Service disposes instruments as stated in chapt. 11 and fur- 
thermore carries out, in a systematic way, works that cover the needs 
of the Army in maps or charts. It uses the A5 and A8 Wild Auto- 
graps for map compilations in scales 1: 50oo and 1:250oo tbe Mul- 
tiplexes, the Kelsh plotter, and the Zeiss Stereotop for the compila- 
tion and bringing up to date of the 1:50000 scale map and the SEG 
V rectifier for the rectifying of plain ground pictures.
