technical problems. It is only in case of small scale mapping that one finds the going a bit tricky.
So far we have successfully carried out 1 : 25,000 and 1 : 50,000 scale mapping on Stereotopes using
‘1 : 40,000 and 1 : 50,000 scale photographs respectively, taken by RC 5a, 11-5 cm. camera. Under
ideal conditions, it may even be possible to use photographs up to 1 : 60,000 scale, but so far no trials
have been carried out.
The above problem becomes more acute in case of mountainous regions where the provision
of control and the plotting present more difficulties than normally encountered in other areas. "Test
Aerial Triangultion of strips 100 Kms. in length on 1 : 50,000 scale and subsequent plotting by Stereo-
tope on the same scale, have so far been carried out with satisfactory results.
As regards Aerial Triangulation we realize that the future lies with the analytical methods.
We are therefore actively thinking on these lines and shall utilize an Electronic Computer and
I.T.C.—Jerie Analogue computer for block adjustment, when available.
