Moreoveriin October 1954; a United Nations Seminar on Topographic Mapping as a means of
Economie Development: was held in Teheram in close cooporation with the N. C. C.
In fact: Photogrammetric operations started in 1956.
In 1955» a so _ called know-how agreement with Fairey Air Survey was concluded:
through which elementary training in Photogrammetry and photo — laboratory techniques
was to be given to N. C. C. employees by Fairey technicians: At the same time (1956 -
1957 ) aerial photography was to be carried out by Fairey Air Survey.
In this way the following air photographs were made in 1956 — 1957 :
200 Iranian cities: excluding Teheran» were photographed to scales 1:6000 (for
the town-centres) and 1:12. 500 (for the towns and surroundings) . Teheran was photographed
to 1.10.000 exclusively.
Total area covered: about 15000 sq km.
12 islands and ports in the Persian Gulf _ area were photographed to 1:12000 or
1:20:000 Total area covered : about 11000 sq km.
10 Watersheds: to scales 1:10.000 or 1 : 20.000. Total area covered : about 25000
sq km.
3 projected aerodrome — sites: to scales 1:6000 and 1: 40.000 Total area covered:
about 9000 sq kw.
A road . project Zabedan — Chahbahar to 1:40.000. Total area covered : about
74000 sq km.
In spring 1956» a Wild Autograph A8 and a Zeiss Rectifier SEG V were installed
in the temporary housing of the photogrammetric Division of the N. C. C. in Darband
( 15 km north of Teheran )
In autumn 1957» an OMI _ Photomapper was installed there.
It was not before spring 1958 that these instruments could be transferred to the
final housing in the new N. C. C. building situated close to Teheran main airport.
At that time: another new Wild A8 and a Wild A7 ( for aerial triangulation )
were also installed in the new N. C. C. building. Further» one Zeiss - Stereotop and eight
vertical mirror _ stereoscopes were acquired.
For reproduction purposes a Klimsch Super Autokorica Copy_camera was purchased
and installed.
In summer 1958: in close cooporation with the N. C. C. four private organizations
started photogrammetric plotting activities. These organizations employ: a Santoni_Stereosin: -
plex IIb a S. O. M. _ Poivilliers D4: two Nistri — Photomappers and two U. S.A. _
Kelshplotters.
In 1959» a Zeiss Camera RMK 9” x 9”’ £—6 "and a Beechcraft D 18 S aeroplane were
acquired by the N. C. C. and in summer 1959 the first photographic mission was executed.
