recorder allows not only a contourline of 50 meters but even 50 feet would be possible,
without any conflict in contouring between adjacent models.
I consider this aerial triangulation of the southern half of Suriname as an indication
"what can be obtained if we use the modern tools". Replacing in a case like this the wide
angle RC 5A by the super wide angle RC 9 and adding to the A.P.R. and statoscope also
a horizon camera the result would be even better and could have been obtained with less
photography since the scale 1 : 75.000 would have been entirely sufficient in this tropical
jungle.
In addition to the two blocks Ia and Ib, table 4 contains 6 other blocks, for which the
the boundary and 4 points determined in block Ia, the latter points cannot be bad in
absolute position since in Ib the absolute mean square error in these points of 16,0 m
was about the same as for the known points in block Ia.
The adjustment of heights was in this case an entirely different problem, since the
airborne profil recorder gave a large number of ground control points. For this reason the
height adjustment has not been carried out by means of the analogue computer but in a
normal numerical way. The relative mean square error of 3,8 meters derived from the
difference in height in common points of adjacent strips can be considered as a proof, that
the combination of aerial triangulation in good universal plotters with the airborne profil
